Benefit 7. Everything Connects to Everything Else.
The ABC Garden helps students to learn that social, economic, and environmental issues are strongly interconnected.  Every subject is linked to all other subjects. All subjects (including langauge, social studies, math, science, art, health, economics, housing, water, food, government) relate to and affect nature, in the local community, in the Galien River watershed, and beyond.

Benefit 8. Holistic and Holistic Skills.
The ABC Garden helps students learn holistic skills, which are skills that are beneficial to every basic thing that people need (health, education, science, art, government, peace, joy, moral-love, community-economy, shelter, water, food, clothes, soap, waste management, and basic tools).  Also, holistic means whole-culture: education, economy, science, art, how we live and learn and work, relationships with people, relationships with nature, etc. The ABC Garden helps students learn how to holistically sustain and enrich the whole-culture and every basic thing that people need, in the local community, in the Galien River watershed, in the St. Joseph River watershed, and beyond.

Benefit 9. Holistic Sustainability.
At the ABC Garden, students learn and practice holistic sustainability skills and the 40 categories of sustainability. These skills are useful in the local community, in Berrien County, and beyond.

Benefit 10. Holistic Health and Safety.
At the ABC Garden, students learn and practice many disease-prevention skills and holistic-health-and-safety skills, including moral health, mental fitness, physical fitness, economic well-being, enviromental well-being, and social health (community health). Moral health includes 5 Ways to be Nice and self-control / material-moderation: don't overdo eating, profits, shopping, time using electronics, etc. Economic well-being includes having enough vital supplies and stuff (housing, water, food, clothes, soap, sanitation, and basic tools). Social health includes being a part of and engaging in a functional community. Environmental well-being includes living in a community of clean air and clean water and fresh organic local food, etc., supporting clean air to breath, clean water to drink, fertile soil to grow food, pristine habitats and outdoor spaces to play in, 40 categories of sustainability, etc. The ABC Garden promotes that ABC Garden graduates continue to promote the many disease-prevention skills and holistic-health-and-safety skills, in their community and anywhere they go, throughout Michigan and beyond.

Benefit 11. Goverment in the Community and Beyond.
At the ABC Garden, students learn and practice the basics of how a community and its local economics works. Plus, students learn and practice to run a small government to manage a small community and its economics to support both people and ecological habitats. Governing the ecology and economy of a small community helps people to better govern the ecology and economy in the larger governments of townships, counties, and states, within the Great Lakes watershed and beyond.

In the ABC Garden, students learn that our economy is based on nature. Our economy (our stuff: housing, air, water, food, clothes, soap, tools, art, etc.) comes from nature or is made of materials from nature. The air we breath comes from nature. The water we drink comes from nature. The food we eat is grown in soil, which comes from nature. The wood, that we use to build houses, comes from trees, which grew on the land, which is a part of nature. Boosting nature and natural resources boosts the economy. In the ABC Garden, students learn and practice protecting and boosting the ecology and nature, which helps to protect and boost the economy of the local community, the Northeast USA, and beyond.

The ABC Garden helps students learn not only academics skills, but also, community skills, economic skills, job skills, and sustainability skills: how to run a sustainable community economy, how to work at local community jobs, how to create local small businesses, how to decrease poverty within the local community, how to distribute a variety of healthy organic food throughout the community, and how to steward natural habitats. Once students know how to do this in their home community, they are better able to help do this in communities throughout North America, the world, and beyond.

Benefit 19. Excellent Citizens of the Universe.
The ABC Garden (including the educational lessons that go with it) help students to be excellent citizens of the universe.  Excellent citizens of the universe do science and art that helps people and nature to live and thrive together in communities. Citizens of the universe need to at least know how to live, learn, and work to help to sustain and enrich and manage their home community and its community economy and locally-grown food and local natural habitats, before they dare adventure throughout the world and universe to influence earthlings and aliens on how to live, learn, work, and affect their local communities, habitats, and planets. Being friendly includes living in ways that holistically sustain and enrich communities, people, and nature. The people, who we pick to represent Earth to greet cosmic aliens on Earth or to travel the cosmos, should be friendly people who have lived, learned, and worked to take good care of people, nature, and the local economy, in at least their home community.  If we can take care of our own communities, we are better prepared to help to take care of larger human societies as well as distant communities around our world and universe. As we interact with locals, foreign earthlings, or cosmic aliens, we don't want to be living, learning, and working in ways that neglect and or destroy earth's or alien communities, people, and nature.

Galien Valley Nature and Culture Program (GV-NCP).
Galien Valley Nature and Culture Program runs interdisicplinary classes about nature and culture. Classes are informative and fun. Students learn how culture and nature relate to each other and how science, art, health, economy, etc. relate to nature too. Furthermore, classes include a few lessons on holistic skills as well as the ABCs of community, ecology, economy, science, art, and more.
